Modern Living Room Decor Picks

There is nothing I love more than a black and white palette complimented with a hint of chrome and timber. Here are a few of my living room picks. Items are from Ikea, Target and the chair is an Eames. These items are great for those on a budget (minus the Eames).

DIY Painted Pinecones

Total Cost: $0
Using paints found at home and pinecones found in the park

What you will need:

Acrylic paint and paint brush and pinecones

Paint the pinecones however you desire. I painted my pinecones with Inca Gold and Light Periwinkle.
Once dry, place the pinecones with other rustic style ornaments.

DIY Wood Mood board

Wall mood boards have become more popular in interior design recently. A mood board, very simply, is a collection and collage of images, text and samples of objects used by designers to develop design concepts and communicate an aesthetic style to others.

This DIY is for a wood mood board, perfect for renters or those wanting something portable. 
TOTAL COST: $22

What you will need:

1 large plywood sheet from Bunnings, any size you want.

Place flat on floor.

1 wood clipboard from Officeworks, any size.

Place on top-left corner of wooden board and stick on using heavy duty cloth tape.

 A collection of prints and other paper samples.

Place your print on the wooden board and play around with the placement until you are happy with it. 

Washi tape or patterned tape from Typo and a pair of scissors.

Cut small pieces of tape and tape down the prints. Try to vary the way in which you tape the prints.
